Our Boliva coffee is Organically grown, Single Origin Coffee 100% sourced from women owned farms
Coffee Tasting notes: Medium body, sweet, dark coffee-liqueur flavor.
In Bolivia’s Calama and Nogalani communities, coffee farmers known as “Coloniales” overcame a history of exploitation from a 1950s corporate oligarchy that enforced poor working conditions and corruption. Land reforms in 1991 restored small farms to their original family owners. Since 2013, a dynamic cooperative of 18 families, averaging 30 years old, has focused on organic coffee production and international exports, with 85% of the population relying on coffee and 15% growing citrus and bananas. In 2014, they renovated coffee parcels.
The cooperative includes over 40 women farmers with equal rights, holding key roles in leadership. The Café Femenino Bolivia Program, started in 2009, empowered these women by separating their coffee production and securing their names on land titles, ensuring economic security and boosting self-esteem. Despite geographic isolation and societal challenges, these women have enhanced their livelihoods, families, and communities.
