Our Rwanda coffee is Organically grown, Single Origin Coffee 100% sourced from women owned farms
Coffee Tasting notes: Light body, soft, orange blossom aroma and a crisp, refreshing finish.
Our Rwanda Rushashi Hingakawa is sourced from the Abakundakawa cooperative in Gakenke’s northern province, this coffee reflects the group’s name, meaning “People Who Love Coffee” in Kinyarwanda, through its consistently exceptional quality. The cooperative has earned its stellar reputation through accolades in the renowned Cup of Excellence competitions.
We’re thrilled to showcase coffee crafted by the Hingakawa Women’s Association, a dedicated group within the cooperative. This women-led collective earns a premium for their meticulous lot separation efforts, which they reinvest into community initiatives. Their achievements include acquiring a shared farm, distributing livestock like cows, pigs, and goats to members, and planning a training hub to support diverse programs, from child welfare and nutrition to sewing classes for supplemental income. Hingakawa, meaning “Let’s Grow Coffee,” is a rallying cry for unity and progress, empowering the community to overcome poverty through collaboration and leadership.
The coffee undergoes processing with single-disc pulpers, followed by an 18-24 hour dry fermentation, then washing and soaking. The wet parchment is hand-sorted on shaded tables to eliminate imperfections only visible at this stage. Finally, it’s sun-dried on raised beds for 10-15 days before milling.
One tablespoon per cup to start. Adjust to your taste as needed
